Healing Bone Broth

Let me introduce you to one of my must-have fridge essentials: Bone Broth.

Packed with collagen, amino acids, and minerals, this easy to digest broth is a one-stop shop ancient remedy for whatever ails you. There's a reason chicken soup is the prescribed go-to for when you're feeling under the weather. Simmering the bones of chicken, beef, lamb, or fish for 24-48 hours creates a nutrient dense liquid forcefield in a cup.

I have at least one cup a day to reap the amazing benefits:

  • boosts immunity
  • repairs the gut
  • protects joints
  • reduces inflammation
  • boosts detoxification
It also happens to be the easiest recipe!

Ingredients
  • 2 lbs grass-fed beef bones
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 sprig of thyme
  • 1 sprig of parsley
  • 1/8 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 10-12 cups cold water
Instructions
  1. Place all the ingredients in a crock-pot (be sure to check the capacity of yours and adjust accordingly)
  2. Add water
  3. Place on "high" setting until it comes to a boil
  4. Reduce to "low" setting for 24-48 hours
  5. Strain and remove solids
  6. Allow broth to cool in the fridge, skim the fat that has risen to the top
  7. Pour into mason jars and date
  8. TA-DA! Homemade bone broth
I usually fill one mason jar for the fridge and drink it over the course of the week, and place the rest in the freezer which is good for 3 months.
