Packed with collagen, amino acids, and minerals, this easy to digest broth is a one-stop shop ancient remedy for whatever ails you. There's a reason chicken soup is the prescribed go-to for when you're feeling under the weather. Simmering the bones of chicken, beef, lamb, or fish for 24-48 hours creates a nutrient dense liquid forcefield in a cup.
I have at least one cup a day to reap the amazing benefits:
- boosts immunity
- repairs the gut
- protects joints
- reduces inflammation
- boosts detoxification
It also happens to be the easiest recipe!
Ingredients
- 2 lbs grass-fed beef bones
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 onion, quartered
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, smashed
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 sprig of thyme
- 1 sprig of parsley
- 1/8 cup apple cider vinegar
- 10-12 cups cold water
- Place all the ingredients in a crock-pot (be sure to check the capacity of yours and adjust accordingly)
- Add water
- Place on "high" setting until it comes to a boil
- Reduce to "low" setting for 24-48 hours
- Strain and remove solids
- Allow broth to cool in the fridge, skim the fat that has risen to the top
- Pour into mason jars and date
- TA-DA! Homemade bone broth
I usually fill one mason jar for the fridge and drink it over the course of the week, and place the rest in the freezer which is good for 3 months.
